05.26.2009 – Episode 9 of the HGTV series "The Stagers" airs Wed., May 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET/10:30 p.m. PT on HGTV Canada and on Tues., June 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV US. In this episode titled "Child's Play," stager Matthew Finlason’s skills are put to the test when he faces a new challenge in his career - staging a nursery that is occupied by an 18-month-old toddler. It is one of several hurdles he must overcome to enhance a family home on a limited budget. With the help of stager-in-training Rukiya, Matthew must come up with some kid-friendly and creative ideas to achieve an impressive transformation that will not break the bank, but will help sell the house.Five tips for staging a nursery on a budget include: 1 - Use removable wall stickers to create a dramatic motif on a budget. 2 - Pick gender neutral colors for the walls like sage green.3 - Buy or rent convertible furniture (i.e. a crib that turns into a twin bed) which can bridge the age gap.4 - Opt for simple over cute.5 - Keep the room clutter free by storing books and toys in inexpensive baskets or boxes.
